This musical tale tells the tale of a group of unlikely friends who decide to start a rock band in the hope of achieving fame and fortune.
But on their quest for rock stardom they find that being in a band is a lot harder than previously thought. This is made even more difficult when Julia, one of the band's founding members gets mixed up with an evil mastermind who goes by the name Des Picable. He has nothing but world domination on his mind, and with the help of his misunderstood evil sidekick Spacer, they team up to take over the globe by spreading war and hatred.
Will their evil plan succeed?
Can the band rescue Julia as well as save the world?
Will they record another decent song or will the band be another one hit wonder?
All will be revealed in The Fret.
Scenes & Songs & Script
Scene One
Inside Des Picable’s evil lair where he and his trusty, but misunderstood sidekick Spacer are in the middle of their seemingly unstoppable world domination plan of turning countries against each other.
Scene Two
Andy and Julia are 2 bored friends who are jamming to a bit of music when they turn on the news and see the terrible state of the World at the moment. They then learn about a Battle of the Bands competition where they can win a lot of money and get famous. The only trouble is - they don’t have a band.
Scene Three
Band Auditions! Andy and Julia have a small but enthusiastic group of people auditioning to be in the band. Visa and Smarties - two streetsmart rappers, Moonpuddle - an ‘Earthy’ musician who is still stuck in the 1970’s, guitarist - Bad Boy Brown who likes to rock out and a drummer Miriam, who has no problem with her self esteem. After much deliberation, and thanks to Visa’s inability to say words starting with ‘th’, they come up with a name that will be a ‘Fret’ to all other bands they face.
Scene Four
Through sheer luck, The Fret have written one song and it has become an overnight hit. They are in the studio trying to replicate their success and do a dance remix of their number one hit song. Unfortunately, Andy and Julia have a fight on who formed the band and Julia leaves The Fret.
Scene One
Back in Des Picable’s evil lair where his World domination plan is reaching the final stages. Des is getting frustrated with his sidekick Spacer, so fires him and hires a new one - who turns out to be Julia. Spacer leaves vowing revenge, and as soon as Julia realised what she’s got herself into, thinks up a plan to save herself - and the World.
Scene Two
Andy is back in his flat and feeling sad to lose Julia. The rest of the band try to make him feel better, but when he hears that Julia is in trouble, he has a plan to save her.
Scene Three
Des Picable is getting ready for the final stage of his evil plan to have the main World superpowers go to war with each other. Broadcasting live to the planet, he starts to make fun of everyone, but is interrupted by The Fret, and Spacer who has come back to exact his revenge. Des is defeated, and The Fret perform a song which brings the World together and spreads nothing but peace and love around the Globe.
